This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the 2014 NECCC photography conference at UMass Amherst. It was 3 days filled with lectures, competitions and vendor tables and over 800 of New England’s photography enthusiasts. Over those 3 days I had my portfolio reviewed, tried different techniques and met some great people but the one thing that I was able to do, that normally I don’t, is to make time for me!
Now don’t get me wrong, I make time for me every chance I get but not to just be creative. I go on photo walks, participate in weekly photography challenges and haul my camera around my yard but this was different. This was a chance to put into practice some shooting and editing techniques I had learned that day! That is something I don’t often take time to do and this was the perfect opportunity. I photographed scenic landscapes, textures, and night photography all for me and this is what I am sharing with you.
I’d like to encourage all of you to make time for yourselves! Learn a new technique and put it into practice! Challenge yourself next time you pick up your camera, photograph something new or in a new way! Edit using new styles, crop, make it vertical, get outside of your comfortable little box and have a blast doing it!
Anyone up to the challenge, show me your work! I’d love to share in your journey too!
